It's game on for Jesse Thompson. The 17-year-old Ontarian who won his human rights fight against a minor hockey league that wouldn't let him dress in the boys' change room because he is transgender is celebrating. Hockey Canada's Ontario faction has posted the new inclusive policies that he inspired, the Toronto Star reports.

Registered nurses in Ontario are getting a pay bump and better benefits, an arbitrator has decided. But, whereas hospitals are calling the award much too lavish for government coffers, the nurses say it's not enough, according to The Canadian Press. When compared to raises for their male-dominated counterparts in police and fire, the nurses association (comprised mostly of women) says their pay prompts concerns of discrimination.

Ontario municipalities are turning an eye to Richmond Hill, which just won an appeal of an Ontario Municipal Board decision that they said limited City Hall's ability to determine how much parkland developers would be required to provide the community. Richmond Hill introduced a parkland provision rate in 2013, requiring builders to provide a certain amount of green space per number of units erected, or cash-in-lieu. Developers fought the board's decision. This week, a Divisional Court judge determined the OMB overstepped its jurisdiction when it ruled in favour of the developers, a ruling the mayor said could set a province-wide precedent.

A community advisory board assigned to the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre (notorious for lousy conditions) says not much progress has been made since making recommendations two years ago, the Ottawa Citizen reports. The government sent another task force into the jail in March, and agreed to make quarterly progress reports on those recommendations available to the public.

Newly released data from Airbnb suggests the number of hosts in Ontario is on the up, and that the trend will continue, according to the Toronto Star.

Quebec has agreed to a one-year pilot project with Uber that will allow the company to continue to operate in the province. The agreement came down to the wire - the deadline for consensus on new government regulations was midnight on Wednesday. For now, the specifics remain a mystery, but the Globe and Mail notes Uber agreed to make "concessions" to its business model, and will pay provincial taxes.

Following heavy floods last month, Dryden is getting disaster recovery relief funds from the province, CBC reports.
