PC Leader Patrick Brown brought up a few examples of Liberals making policy that have benefited certain companies, and pointed out the donations the companies have made to the Liberal Party. Premier Kathleen Wynne denied that government policy is ever made because of political donations.
Brown then brought up the health-care funding battles the Liberal government is having with nurses and doctors, and asked if those battles are happening because doctors aren't donating enough money.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath asked that the process for reforming political financing be open, independent and include a broad consultation. Wynne said the committee that studies the legislation this spring will hold public hearings around the province.
PC MPP Todd Smith asked about a windmill turbine contract in Prince Edward County that is currently under dispute in an environmental tribunal. He noted the company wanting to build the turbine has donated to the Liberals, and asked whether the Liberals are trying to help the turbine company win the dispute.
New Democrat Catherine Fife said the Liberals are planning to break tradition in Ontario by changing the donation rules without a broad consultation process.
Liberal Cristina Martins asked Training, Colleges and Universities Minister Reza Moridi about the government's youth employment support services.
PC deputy leader Steve Clark asked whether Gerry Lougheed Jr. (of the Sudbury bribery scandal) had been the one responsible for the lucrative donation haul for the Liberals during the Sudbury byelection. Liberal Jim Bradley pointed out that Lougheed has also donated to the PCs in the past.
NDP MPP Teresa Armstrong asked about funding shortfalls at London hospitals.
Liberal MPP Peter Milczyn asked Municipal Affairs Minister Ted McMeekin to discuss how the recently-introduced bill on ranked ballots and other election reforms will improve municipal democracy.
PC MPP Lorne Coe asked the government to extend health-care coverage to rehabilitation services for post-stroke survivors. He got no specific response.
Horwath said a lack of funding for a Hamilton YWCA has meant the centre is cutting back on a supervised access program for children being visited by parents going through a family dispute.
Liberal Sophie Kiwala asked what the government is doing to generate economic opportunities in Ontario's indigenous communities.
PC MPP John Yakabuski asked Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca to put the twinning of Hwy. 17 through Renfrew into the ministry's five-year plan. Del Duca made no specific promise but said the ministry does consider that to be an important project.
New Democrat Gilles Bisson asked about the suicide epidemic in Attawapiskat, and what the government is doing and should be doing to help improve living conditions there. Wynne said there's "no one thing" that can be done, but said the government takes the situation very seriously and is intent on finding long-term solutions in partnership with the federal government.
