It's been a good week for:

Canada's top 100 CEOs, who were counting their chickens (and their share options) after the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives revealed that the big bosses pulled in an average of $7.7 million in 2012.

Joe (and Janet) Six-pack after Finance Minister Dwight Duncan opened the door to selling beer, wine and liquor at grocery stores, beginning with 10 LCBO "express" outlets.

It's been a bad week for:

Ontario students ,who could go without extracurricular activities and after-school assistance after the unions representing their teachers and the province failed to reach a negotiated settlement.

Taxpayers and ratepayers, who face hikes in everything from EI premiums and stamps to a host of municipal service fees.

The Ontario College of Trades after a major labour union withdrew its backing for the regulatory body that has already had its opening pushed back from Jan. 1 to April.
