Top Region: Ontario receives more than 40% of all federal and provincial funds disbursed in Canada during the week ~ $57.7 million.

Top Recipients in Ontario: The top three beneficiaries of federal and provincial stimulus funding this week by sector are:

Business: Manufacturer BioAmber Sarnia receives $12M from FedDev Ontario’s Prosperity Initiative to support the construction of a new plant in Sarnia.
KFS Logistics receives $558,500 from the Province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to build an e-commerce centre and an international product distribution network.
The NEOnet Cell Project receives $139,395, also from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, to help provide mobile phone service to un-serviced areas across Timmins, James Bay, Timiskaming, Cochrane, and the Nickel Belt.
Hospitals & Universities: Governments announced no new funding for Ontario hospitals and universities this week. More than 2,473 sources of funding from government and private foundations are available to support the Hospitals & Universities sector across Canada.
Charities, Non-Profits & Public Sector: The 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games receive $42M over three years from the Ontario Government’s Promotion, Celebration and Legacy Strategy to create a “lasting legacy” from the event. The Games will create more than 26,000 jobs and grow the Province’s GDP by $3.7 billion.
The Jack Garland Airport receives $800,000 from the Province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to renovate and expand its terminal to allow for increased traffic flow.
The Town of Cochrane receives $700,000 for a wastewater infrastructure project.
