The legislative printers will be going back to the presses after the latest seating plan was made obsolete just moments after it was released Monday morning when the House resumed sitting.

With the decision Sunday from Tory leader Tim Hudak to relieve former PC finance critic Peter Shurman of his portfolio because of his refusal to pay back tens of thousands of dollars from a housing allowance spent on his $660,000 Niagara-on-the-lake retirement home, Shurman was relegated to the back benches as of Monday morning.

Shurman can now be found in the third row beside renewable energy critic Lisa Thompson after switching seats with former North Bay mayor and PC energy critic Vic Fedeli who has been active since his arrival in 2011 on the gas plant file.

Fedeli is rumoured to be Shurman's replacement as finance critic, but when QP Briefing caught up with the Tory's latest frontbencher, he couldn't confirm the change in roles - only the change in chairs.

"I gotta be honest - all I did was change chairs," he said Monday after question period let out.

"Tim called me this morning and said 'I just wanted you to know you're going to be switching seats in the legislature.' That's it - that's the full extent of the discussion."

Fedeli added: "I haven't had any conversations with anybody about anything different. Period. I have not."
