* Stacey Danckert will run for the Green Party of Ontario is the much-anticipated byelection in Kitchener-Waterloo to replace Elizabeth Witmer, who stepped down this spring to chair the WSIB.

“We need to really bring forward the idea that the Greens offer a unique opportunity for Kitchener to get their voice in Queen’s Park because if we’re elected then we can become the swing vote,” Danckert told the Waterloo Region Record shortly after winning the party’s nomination.

A post-doctoral fellow at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest in Toronto, Danckert will face another academic this fall. Wilfrid Laurier University professor Tracey Weiler is the Tory candidate.

The Liberals and the NDP have yet to select their candidates and Premier Dalton McGuinty has not set a date for the byelection.

* The G20 Review will present its final report to the Toronto Police Services Board on Friday morning. The Honourable John W. Morden will present the report at Toronto Police Services headquarters.

* The first ever Park Bus will leave downtown Toronto early Friday morning, carrying campers from the GTA to provincial and national parks in the near North.

The new service, funded in part by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Parks and Parks Canada will charge $35-$40 for a one-way bus ride that drops passengers off at campsites and canoe access locations in Algonquin, Killarney and Grundy provincial parks and Bruce Peninsula National Park.
