Carlene Alexander became Ontario’s first comptroller general last month and QP Briefing extends warm congratulations.
The new deputy minister-level position is "tasked with identifying and mitigating potential financial and policy risks before they take hold, protecting taxpayer dollars in the process," according to a press release from Treasury Board.
Alexander holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Her most recent role was with the Toronto District School Board, as interim director of education. She's also more than familiar with the provincial government — she worked for the public service from 2009 to 2014, including the ministries of finance and Indigenous affairs.
Meanwhile, Michael Lindsay officially took the helm of Infrastructure Ontario on Nov. 1, succeeding Ehren Cory, who has joined the Canada Infrastructure Bank as CEO. Prior to becoming CEO, Lindsay was president of project delivery and he was appointed in August 2018 as the government's special advisor for a potential transit upload of the TTC.
And former radio reporter Justine Teplycky is the new director of communications for Long-Term Care Minister Merrilee Fullerton, moving over from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
