Noble Chummar has joined the LCBO's board of directors. Chummar, a partner at Cassels Brock, has a long history of legal and political work at all three levels of government. Chummar was a federal negotiator in devolution talks with the Northwest Territories; has worked with former premier Dalton McGuinty both in negotiations with First Nations in Caledonia and also on McGuinty's campaign team. Chummar was also instrumental in legalizing mixed martial arts in Ontario in the face of provincial opposition, and is an adviser to Pan Am Games chair and former premier David Peterson.

Stefan Baranski has been named the regional director for Energy East-Ontario at Transcanada. Baranski was most recently director of communications for former Alberta premier Alison Redford. Prior to that, Baranski worked for former MPP George Smitherman on his unsuccessful campaign for the Toronto mayor's office in 2010. Baranski is also the founder and publisher of OntarioNewsWatch.com.

Mike Crawley has resigned as president of GDF Suez Canada, formerly Interational Power Canada. Crawley was the president of the Liberal Party of Canada until February of this year. GDF Suez Canada is the owner and operator of 800 megawatts of wind, solar, and natural gas-fired electrical generation capacity across Canada, including Ontario. "With the last of our original batch of projects reaching operations earlier this year, I've decided that now is a good time to take a brief pause," Crawley told friends in an e-mail.

Dr. Peter Pisters is the new CEO of the University Health Network, the operator of Toronto General and Toronto Western hospitals, among other medical centres in the city. Pisters is returning to Canada after two decades of working in Texas. John Mulvihill, chair of the board of trustees of University Health who headed the selection committee to replace Bell, said he was "delighted" Pisters had decided to return to Canada. "His background as a clinician-researcher and his commitment to patients as partners in their care will ensure that Dr. Pisters will feel at home at UHN and that the organization will continue to grow, innovate and lead healthcare in Canada and beyond our borders," Mulvihill said.
