Former MuchMusic VJ Jennifer Hollett has thrown her hat into the ring for the NDP nomination in Toronto Centre. Hollett will be looking to win the seat held by Bob Rae until his resignation to work with First Nations negotiating with the Ontario government in the Ring of Fire.
Hollett <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=158469457676872&amp;id=120433188147166" target="_blank">announced her candidacy</a> on her Facebook page. The Liberals have yet to nominate a candidate for Toronto Centre but George Smitherman has expressed interest.

Finance Minister Charles Sousa has named the replacement for Paul Godfrey at the head of Ontario Lottery and Gaming. Philip Olsson will move from the government's other cash cow, the LCBO, to head OLG. Olsson will be replaced at the LCBO by Edward Waitzer. QP Briefing <a href="http://www.qpbriefing.com/2013/07/18/from-drinking-to-gambling-new-chairs-at-lcbo-olg/" target="_blank">reported on the moves earlier this week</a>.

Amarjeet Kaur Chhabra is<a href="http://torontoist.com/2013/07/scarborough-guildwood-ndp-runner-up-abandons-legal-challenge/"> dropping her challenge </a>of Adam Giambrone's candidacy for the NDP. In a statement, Chhabra said that while she still harbored concerns about the nomination process in Scarborough-Guildwoods and is "disappointed" in the party, she recognizes there is a limited amount of time left in the byelection and will not pursue a lawsuit.

Taleen Balian, executive assistant to MPP Steven Del Duca, is leaving Del Duca's office in the fall when she will study law at the University of Ottawa. Balian joined Del Duca's office after his byelection win last year.
