Scotiabank's Rick Waugh today announced he will retire as CEO Nov. 1 after 10 years in the role and 43 years with the bank. He will remain a director of the board and assume the role of deputy chairman of the bank until Jan. 31, 2014.
 Brian Porter will take on the role of president and CEO effective Nov. 1. Appointed president on Nov. 1, 2012, Porter was previously group head of international banking. He joined Scotiabank in 1981.

After almost 10 years at the Ontario Medical Association, Patrick Nelson is joining Santis Health as a principal. He had been the OMA's executive director of public and corporate affairs.
From 1998 to 2003, he worked in senior communications roles in the Ontario government as an aide to the minister of health, as director of communications for the minister of the environment, and for the minister of education.
Santis Health is a public affairs, policy and communications agency that serves the Canadian health care sector.

OPP Commissioner Chris D. Lewis has been reappointed and will continue to lead the  provincial police force for the next three years.
Lewis was originally appointed commissioner on Aug. 1, 2010. He joined the OPP in 1978 and was posted as a constable in Kapuskasing.
He oversaw the creation of the Aboriginal Policing Bureau and studied aboriginal government and law. He is a member of the board of directors for Special Olympics Ontario, and graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
"Commissioner Lewis has earned the trust and respect of OPP members for his steadfast leadership. He has also earned the trust and respect of Ontarians for his unwavering commitment to keeping Ontario safe," Community Safety and Correctional Services Minister Madeleine Meilleur said in the announcement Tuesday.
