Author and entrepreneur Don Tapscott has been named chancellor of Trent University. It's the first time an alumnus of the Peterborough-based institution has been appointed to the post, the Toronto Star <a href="http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2013/03/13/trent_university_names_author_don_tapscott_as_chancellor.html">reports</a>.
Tapscott received a degree in psychology and statistics from Trent before getting a master’s in education from the University of Alberta. He begins his three-year term in June.
“We need to move away from the old Industrial Age model that’s focused on teachers and lectures — one-way learning where students are passive — to a more student-focused, customized and collaborative model. That’s why I was attracted to Trent in the very first place,” he told the Star's Tess Kalinowski.
