Michael Mitchell, formerly of Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP, and John Murray, a former justice of the Ontario Superior Court and prominent management labour lawyer, will head up the province's review of employment standards and labour relations law.

The province says Mitchell, "practised law for more than 37 years, and served for 22 years as the managing partner of the firm. He has also acted as a mediator in civil and labour cases and as an adjudicator appointed by the courts under a class action settlement."

Murray, meanwhile, " was appointed to the bench of the Superior Court of Ontario in May 2004 and retired from the bench in December 2014. Prior to his appointment to the bench he was a founding managing partner and chair of the Toronto litigation firm Genest Murray. As a practitioner, Mr. Murray regularly provided legal advice to major private and public sector corporations along with public sector institutions such as universities and hospitals."

Marc Brazeau, the president and CEO of the Automotive Industries Association of Canada, will leave the organization this spring.

His eight-year term as head of the organization will conclude at the end of April.

"Over the span of his 20-year career with AIA, Marc has worked tirelessly to enhance the image of our industry, to keep the aftermarket sector at the forefront of important competitive issues, to build a highly credible and trusted voice with governments, and to rally many different stakeholders to support common industry goals and programs," said AIA board chairman Robert Pitt.
