* Amit Chakma has been re-appointed president and vice-chancellor of the University of Western Ontario. Chakma, who was named to the posts in 2009, will begin his second five-year term in June 2014.

* Terry Irwin, who retired as Brampton’s fire chief four years ago, took over this week as chief of fire services for the Town of Caledon. Darryl Bailey, who had been acting chief since early November, becomes deputy chief.

* Gordon Mills is the new fire chief for the Township of South Stormont. He replaces Roger Desjardins, who retired earlier in the year.

* Jennifer Jones is the new chair of the University of Windsor board of governors.

* Mark Neelin says he will step down as Chief of Barrie Police Service at the end of March next year. Neelin, 55, has held the job for just two years but has been a police officer for 36 years.

* Accountant Glenn Williams has been elected as the new chair of the Brampton Board of Trade. Susan Crawford is chair-elect and vice-chair of finance.

* Denis Hubert-Dutrisac says he will retire next September as president of Sudbury-based Collège Boréal.
