Ontario has appointed a new judge to the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault  Ste. Marie.
Romuald Kwolek has been assigned by Chief Justice Annemarie Bonkalo to preside in the northern Ontario city, effective March 12. 
Judge Kwolek became a lawyer in 1983 and practised at Wishart Noble and the law office of Gladys Pardu prior to joining the Orazietti, Kwolek, Walz firm to practise family law.
Kwolek was a deputy judge of the small claims court and a member of the legal panel of the Office of the Children's Lawyer, representing children involved in family litigation.
The new judge has been a long-serving executive member of the Algoma District Law Association and member of the executive for the County and District Law Presidents' Association.
Since 2011, he has chaired the Algoma District Law Association's Family Law Bench and Bar Committee, and won an award for contributions to the community and law profession.
