<p>Today was A-Day for around 100 North American cities vying to welcome Amazon's second headquarters. While several cities resorted to cheap gimmicks — one Phoenix representative offered to change <a href="https://www.theringer.com/tech/2017/9/21/16341568/amazon-headquarters-competition">the name of the state to 'Amazona'</a> — Ontario's municipalities have played it pretty straight. Today, Premier <strong><a href="https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2017/10/premiers-statement-on-amazon-bids.html?utm_source=ondemand&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=m">Kathleen Wynne</a></strong> and Toronto Mayor <strong>John Tory</strong> shared letters they submitted as part of the bid package. The Premier stressed a skilled and diverse workforce in the province, along with immigration policies that are open to skilled labour. Tory emphasized the GTA's growing office space availability and investment in infrastructure. The province previously announced that it will not provide additional subsidies to try and attract the online retailer.</p>

<p>What happens when one of Canada's most notable white supremacists signs up to speak to a legislative committee? If you're <strong>Paul Fromm</strong>, the director of the Canadian Association for Free Expression, you get unanimously booted from the speaker's list. Fromm had been scheduled to speak about the abortion buffer zone item at 2:15 p.m. at the Standing Committee on General Government, but a PC motion removed him. We asked the clerk's office about what the process is here, and they told us that they pass on anyone who expresses a wish to speak the item. The committee can then vote to exclude individuals as they see fit. Including if they have hosted a show on Stormfront and have expressed support for breeding a "supreme race," for instance.</p>

<p><strong>Cristina Martins</strong>' private members bill to <a href="https://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2017/10/16/ontario-employers-wont-be-able-to-make-workers-wear-high-heels-if-proposed-bill-passes.html">ban mandatory high heels</a> as part of work uniforms got a boost today. Progressive Conservative leader <strong>Patrick Brown</strong> tweeted today that the Liberal MPP's "<a href="http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/bills/bills_detail.do?locale=en&amp;BillID=5196&amp;detailPage=bills_detail_the_bill">Putting Your Best Foot Forward Act</a>" would receive the full support of the PC caucus, bringing it one step closer to fruition. A similar law has already been passed in British Columbia.</p>
