The BFFs of Confederation – Ontario and Quebec – are throwing another joint cabinet meeting.
It was announced Tuesday that the two Liberal cabinets will get together Friday, Oct. 21 in Toronto for their third such confab. A release said the ministers “will reflect on accomplishments since prior meetings…and forge areas for future collaboration.”
Joint Ontario-Quebec cabinet meetings were held in Quebec City last September and in Toronto in November 2014. This meeting will be hosted at a technology business incubator at Ryerson University.
Premier Kathleen Wynne’s Ontario Liberal government and Premier Philippe Couillard’s Quebec Liberal government have been close allies during their terms. Couillard addressed the Ontario legislature in May 2015, and the two provinces are set to link their cap-and-trade systems in 2018.
In 2014, Ontario and Quebec also outlined seven shared criteria for supporting TransCanada Corp.’s Energy East pipeline.
