<p>Ontario Financial Accountability Officer <strong>Stephen LeClair</strong> is on extended medical leave, his office has confirmed.</p>
<p>The Speaker and house leaders for the three parties were informed Wednesday and his office sent out a statement later in the day.</p>

Someone could be appointed to fill in temporarily for LeClair, according to the statement. The <em>Financial Accountability Officer Act</em> says cabinet may appoint a temporary financial accountability officer, for a term of not more than six months, after the appointee has been selected by a panel composed of one MPP from each recognized party, chaired by the Speaker, who does not have a vote.</p>
<p>LeClair's medical condition hasn't been disclosed.</p>
