Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and College Affairs, the Director of Strategic Planning and Public Affairs is a key member of the College’s administrative team, acting as a strategist and facilitator of Seneca’s external relations and internal planning. The Director works closely with the Director of Financial Services to oversee the integrated planning cycle; manages key strategic relationships with government, communities and other external stakeholders; coordinates risk management reporting; and runs the College’s Privacy Office. A dedicated cross-College collaborator, the Director oversees a comprehensive approach to strategic and business planning that links together human resources, organizational development, budgeting, and student and academic programming. The Director oversees the public affairs activities of the College, including relations with all levels of government and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Oversees development of the College’s annual Business Plan/Annual Report that link to the College’s Strategic and Academic Plans.</li>
<li>Works as a key partner across the College on report back requirements to Government and in the development and reporting on the Multi-year Accountability Agreement with the Provincial Government.</li>
<li>Through an integrated approach to planning, ensures that all areas have business plans that are linked to the College’s Business Plan and Strategic, Academic and Risk Management plans and measurements are in place to track regular progress.</li>
<li>Ensures effective government and community relations plans are established on behalf of the College for the Federal, Provincial, Regional and Municipal Governments and local communities.</li>
<li>Advises the President and senior administrators on government relations issues and ensures that Seneca plays a leadership position, where appropriate, in the development of government policy.</li>
<li>Manages the College’s Privacy Office and advises on privacy-related issues and Freedom of Information requests.</li>
<li>May act as the College’s representative at government or community events, related functions and community and college events.</li>
