The OEA is seeking a leader to help us develop and shape Ontario's energy policies as Director of Policy. The Director of Policy will take advantage of the tremendous expertise available on the OEA's various committees and lead the policy development process at the OEA. The position will report to the CEO. The ideal candidate will have experience with Ontario's energy policies and legislation, is comfortable researching and drafting policy papers, and experienced in dealing with provincial officials in a research and advocacy capacity.
Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Work with the CEO and Board of Directors in identifying and fully developing policy positions, priorities and advocacy strategies</li>
<li>Lead the OEA's various policy committees in the development of positions, papers and advocacy plans</li>
<li>Ensure the OEA is involved and has a heads up on all provincial energy policy developments</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders including Minister's office staff, Ministry staff, and staff of regulators such as the IESO and OEB</li>
<li>Assist in the development and implementation of communications strategies where appropriate</li>
<li>Assist the CEO on a range of policy and administrative issues and special projects as required</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Minimum requirement of a post-secondary degree</li>
<li>A strategic leader with relevant experience gained through progressively more responsible positions</li>
<li>Demonstrated expertise and significant experience in one or more of the following areas is required: energy policy and legislation, public policy research, LDC regulatory filings and issues, government relations</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated by experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment</li>
<li>Strong research and consultation skills to ensure that recommendations are supported by evidence</li>
<li>Familiar with, and interested in, effective communication strategies that support organizational objectives</li>
<li>Superior analytical skills, excellent judgment, and initiative</li>
<li>Excellent writing skills</li>
