Government House Leader Paul Calandra said on Thursday that the government will be introducing two new bills next week, but as usual, didn’t give any hints on what they might be about.
<h3>Upcoming bills (March 25–29, 2022)</h3>
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones’ anti-border blockade legislation, <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-100">Bill 100, the Keeping Ontario Open for Business Act</a>, will be debated on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
<a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-50">Bill 50, the Hungarian Heritage Month Act</a>, introduced by PC MPP Rudy Cuzzetto, will be debated on Wednesday morning.
One of Calandra’s mystery bills will be debated on Wednesday afternoon, night, and Thursday morning. The other bill will be revealed on Thursday afternoon and debated that night.
Also on Thursday, Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma will give a ministerial statement.
<h3>Opposition day and private members' business coming up (March 17–25, 2022)</h3>
There is no opposition day scheduled next week.
NDP Deputy Leader Sara Singh — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should address the inequity in health care and cancer treatment services such as radiation therapy in central Peel Region through the funding of a new cancer care centre for the city of Brampton by no later than 2026.
NDP MPP Jennifer K. French — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should commit to a strategy to improve accountability and care for aging Ontarians in long-term care and retirement homes, including but not limited to: involving family councils in care decisions; incorporating individualized care plans that consider the cognitive, behavioural, cultural, psychological, nutritional and physical needs of residents; ensuring that payments of fines and penalties incurred by for-profit providers cannot come from funds transferred to agencies by the province; and ensure that the proactive inspection criteria will at least meet the criteria of the cancelled Resident Quality Inspections (RQI) and clearly outline the protocols for such inspections.
On Tuesday evening, PC MPP Sam Oosterhoff’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-89">Bill 89, the Protecting Ontario's Religious Diversity Act</a>, will be debated. The bill would amend the Human Rights Code to protect religious expression.
<h3>Committees (March 17–25, 2022)</h3>
The Standing Committee on Social Policy will be meeting on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to undergo clause-by-clause consideration of Labour Minister Monte McNaughton’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-88">Bill 88, Working for Workers Act</a>. The bill would, among other things, set a minimum wage for gig workers, including ride-share and delivery drivers.
On Wednesday, the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills will be considering three private bills: NDP MPP Wayne Gates’ <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-pr60">Bill PR60, the 1692783 Ontario Inc. Act</a> and <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-pr61">Bill PR61, the 1712042 Ontario Ltd. Act</a>, as well as Liberal House Leader John Fraser’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-pr63">Bill PR63, the Superior Corporate Services Limited Act</a>. All three bills seek to revive the companies named in their respective bills.
The Standing Committee on General Government will hold public hearings on Wednesday and Thursday for Surma’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-93">Bill 93, the Getting Ontario Connected Act</a>. The bill would make regulatory reforms to broadband infrastructure and amend the Building Broadband Faster Act and the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act.
<h3>Bills last week (March 7–10, 2022)</h3>
Singh tabled <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-101">Bill 101, Harvey and Gurvir's Law</a>, on Monday. The bill would require the minister of health to provide up-to-date information on Down syndrome to the public, particularly parents with a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.
Jones’ <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-100">Bill 100</a> was introduced on Monday and was debated on Thursday. Its second reading will continue Monday.
<a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-96">Bill 96, the Supply Act</a>, from President of the Treasury Board Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria’s received royal assent on Monday. The bill authorized expenditures for the remainder of the fiscal year which ends on March 31. 
McNaughton’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-96">Bill 88</a> went through its second reading on Monday and Tuesday, carried on division and was ordered to the Standing Committee on Social Policy on Wednesday.
Former PC, now independent, MPP Lindsey Park introduced her <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-104">Bill 104, the Connected Communities Act</a>, on Tuesday. The bill requires the government to introduce a strategy to address loneliness and social isolation.
<a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-103">Bill 103, the Ending Automobile Insurance Discrimination in the Greater Toronto Area Act</a>, introduced by NDP MPPs Gurratan Singh, Faisal Hassan, Tom Rakocevic and Kevin Yarde, was tabled on Tuesday and would prevent auto insurance companies from charging different rates to GTA residents based on their municipality.
Surma’s <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-93/">Bill 93</a> went through and passed its second readying on Wednesday, and was ordered to the Standing Committee on General Government that same day.
NDP MPP Jessica Bell introduced <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-102/status">Bill 102, the Environmental Protection Amendment Act</a> on Wednesday. The legislation would prevent the sale of washing machines without a microfiber filter.
Paul Miller, who was recently made an independent MPP after he was removed from the NDP caucus, had his <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-92">Bill 92, the Ministry of Community and Social Services Amendment Act</a>, pass its second reading on division on Thursday, after which it was referred to the Standing Committee on Social Policy. The proposed legislation would establish a Social Assistance Research Commission.
<a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-105">Bill 105, the Armenian Heritage Month Act</a>, was tabled on Thursday by PC MPP Aris Babikian and would mark every May as Armenian Heritage Month. 
NDP MPPs Rakocevic, Doly Begum, Joel Harden and Terence Kernaghan had their legislation, <a href="https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-2/bill-98/">Bill 98, the Fairness for Ontario's Internationally Trained Workers Act</a>, pass through second reading and ordered to the Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly.
