At Bruce Power, we produce 30% of Ontario’s energy at 30% less than the average cost to generate residential electricity – we receive 6.6 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) against an average price of 11 cents per kWh.
Nuclear is the second lowest-cost of electricity source in Ontario: Solar (48 cents kWh); Natural gas (17); Wind (14); Bruce Power nuclear (6.6) and Hydro (5.8).
You can count on us to save lives every day. We produce Cobalt-60 medical isotopes that are used to sterilize 40% of the world’s single-use medical devices like masks, gloves and syringes, while also producing a specific isotope that is used to treat brain tumours. We also provided 70% of the power needed to close Ontario’s polluting coal plants, resulting in cleaner air for our families and just one smog day since 2014, down from 53 in 2005.
We also continue to innovate, increasing our generation of reliable, low-cost electricity from 6,300 megawatts (MW) to 6,400. That’s an increase of 100 MW without an increase in price, which is enough to power the city of Sudbury.
Our people take great pride in our work. We are environmentalists, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, working to make Ontario and the world a better place. We take great pride in what we do, while generously volunteering in our communities and raising money for organizations such as the United Way.
During the dark, cold winter and the stifling hot summer, when the sun isn’t shining and the wind doesn’t blow, you can count on us to power your life 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a low-cost rate.
