Province prepared to hike gravel-taking fees, minister says

BURLINGTON, ON – AUGUST 30 – Excavating equipment is parked at the entrance to the centre cell of the quarry owned by Forterra Brick off King St. which is closed to the public. The brick manufacturer has dusted off a 40-year-old permit to expand a quarry in Burlington, angering neighbours and environmental advocates who say the move could jeopardize their health and a sensitive Niagara ecosystem.
