Ontario poised to hand over many millions of dollars’ worth of cap-and-trade credits free of charge

The Environmental Commisioner of Ontario reported Tuesday that the industries who will receive “most” of their cap-and-trade emission allowances for free from 2017 to 2020 will pump out approximately 40 megatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2017, the first year of the province’s carbon-pricing system.
